Does a person in a coma actually hear the people around them.?

I'm sorry to hear about you family's situation. I was in a coma once a few years back for about only 23 hours and just out of nowhere awoke from it. To me I heard nothing, smelt nothing, and felt nothing. To me it was sleep like. I didn't dream, it was just like I was sleeping. Other than that I've never personally met anyone whose ever been in a coma. I sure hope her condition gets better and that she can hear things around her.
