I don't have a cookie sheet. Can I use just aluminum foil on the rack instead?

I want to make some scones, but our cookie sheet has mysteriously disappeared ... perhaps my roommate leant it out to someone. I want to know if it's safe to use aluminum foil directly on the rack of the oven - perhaps a couple of layers or something?
