True heartbraking books?

I find a great interest in true heartbreaking events. (i.e. survivors of the Holocaust, The "Invisible Children," etc.) I have already read Elie Wiesel's books. I just really want to find out more about what's happened/happening in our world so that I MIGHT be able to raise awareness.
