Have you ever seen a whole made in the counter top for garbage? If so please help?

I am about to order my granite counter tops in a week. I would like to know the cons and pros of having that little hole so i can throw my peels etc away. I think it is kind of cool. Wht do you think? Would everybody lke it (for resale value). Is there smell coming from the hole/ I want to put a cover of the same granite.
